Is the Facebook Add Friend button missing when you want to connect with someone? This happens due to privacy settings or the lack of a mutual friend. You can send a friend request to a mutual friend to unlock the Add Friend button or you ask them to send you a friend request.
However, if you’re the account owner and wondering why other people can’t send you a friend request, there’s a way to fix it. I’ll show you how!
How To Fix Facebook Add Friend Button Missing
You can perform the procedure on the desktop or mobile app version.
On Desktop
Follow the below steps:
- Log into your Facebook account and tap the arrow next to your profile picture at the top right of your screen.
- Click Settings & privacy.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll from the left panel and tap How people can find and contact you.
- Click Who can send you friend requests? From the right panel.
- Choose Everyone as the Audience, then tap Save.
The Add Friend button will now be visible to anyone on Facebook.
On Mobile
Here are the steps to follow:
- Open the Facebook app on your mobile device and tap the profile icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Click the setting gear on the top right corner.
- Scroll and tap How people can find and contact you under Audience and Visibility.
- Ensure you set Who can send you friend requests to Everyone.
Everyone on Facebook will now be able to add you as a friend.
If you notice the Facebook Add Friend button is missing, it’s usually due to privacy settings or the absence of mutual friends. By adjusting your settings to allow “Everyone” to send you friend requests, you can quickly resolve this issue and make the button visible again.
