Xbox Game Studio, Bethesda, has shared a bunch of updates earlier today, while also confirming that Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vergas remasters are currently in development. In addition to that the studio also pulled back the curtain on the technology powering its next generation of RPGs.

Creation Engine 3 will power The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5

In the Bethesda Game Studios’ long-term roadmap, the developer outlined its plans for Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. While much of the spotlight fell on the games themselves, the studio also confirmed it’s investing heavily in the technology behind them.

According to Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 are now being developed on Creation Engine 3, a new shared technology platform the company has been building since the release of Starfield.

Our teams are now developing The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform we’ve been building since Starfield‘s launch.

Bethesda says the engine introduces new development tools, rendering technology, and gameplay systems while allowing multiple projects to be developed simultaneously.

Built to support Bethesda’s next generation of games

Speaking of the studio’s future plans, Bethesda explained that bringing its teams closer together has also influenced how Creation Engine 3 was designed. Rather than building separate technology for individual games, the new engine serves as a common foundation across the company’s biggest RPG franchises.

The studio added that the technology will help developers support several projects at once while maintaining the large open worlds and player freedom the series is known for.
