1. Rename Skype Folder in Safe Boot mode

  1. Press and hold the Windows button and the R button.
  2. Write in the Run window the following msconfig.exe.msconfig run dialog run as administrator not working
  3. Press the Enter button on the keyboard.
  4. Left click or tap on the Boot tab situated in the upper side of the window.
  5. Check the box next to Safe boot.
  6. Check the box next to Network.
  7. Reboot the Windows 10 device.
  8. After the restart of the operating system try to open your Skype application and see if it runs correctly.
  9. Open the Run window as you did above while in safe mode.
  10. Write in the window the following %appdata% without the quotes.appdate unable to save word document
  11. Press the Enter button on the keyboard.
  12. Locate the folder with the name Skype in the window that pops up.
  13. Rename the folder to Skype_2.
  14. Now close the file explorer and start the Skype app again.
  15. See if you still have this issue.
  16. If you don’t have this issue then start your device normally and try to run Skype again.

2. Reinstall Skype

  1. Uninstall your Skype application.
  2. Go on Microsoft store and download the latest version of the Skype app compatible with your Windows 10 device.

3. Disable uPnP

  1. Run the first tutorial to enter the Safe Mode feature in Windows 10.
  2. Open your Skype program.
  3. Open the Skype advanced connections settings .
  4. Disable the feature uPnP.
  5. Reboot the Skype program as well as your operating system.
  6. Open the Skype app after the reboot is done and see if it opens.

4. Perform an SFC Scan

  1. Move the mouse over to the upper right side of the screen.
  2. Left click or tap on the Search feature.
  3. Type in command prompt.

  5. In the command prompt window write the following: sfc /scannow without the quotes.Sfc scannow
  6. Press the Enter button on the keyboard.
  7. Left the sfc scan finish and reboot the Windows 10 device.
  8. Start the Skype program again and see how it reacts now.
