There are several methods that we are going to do in order to fix this issue that you get in Windows 8 or Windows 10. Keep in mind that you need to follow the instructions below very carefully to fix error 0xc004f074 in the shortest time possible. So, without any further delay, here are the steps to take to get rid of the error 0xc004f074 and activate your product.

  1. Use the slmgr.vbs command
  2. Use the Slui 3 command
  3. Run SFC scan
  4. Run the Update and Activation Troubleshooters
  5. Contact Microsoft Support

1. Use the slmgr.vbs command

  1. On the start screen of the Windows 8 or Windows 10 device left click on the Desktop icon you have in that menu.
  2. When you opened the desktop you will need to left click on the start button and left click on the icon “Command Prompt” but be sure to open the one with administrative rights.
    Note: To open command prompt with administrative rights you need to right click on the “Command Prompt” icon and left click on “Run as administrator”.
  3. If prompted by a message left click on the “Yes” button to proceed further.
  4. In the “Command Prompt” window you will need to write the following command “slmgr.vbs –ipk YYYYY- YYYYY – YYYYY – YYYYY – YYYYY”
    Note: Replace the Y letters in the code with your product key number. And also the product key should have 25 numbers.
  5. Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
  6. Write again in the command prompt window the following command: “slmgr.vbs –ato”.
  7. Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
  8. Reboot the Windows 8 or Windows 10 device and see if your device gives you the same error.

2. Use the Slui 3 command

  1. While on your start screen you need to press and hold the button “Windows” and the button “R”
  2. A “Run” window should open and you need to write in there “Slui 3”
  3. Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
  4. Write in the next window that appears your operating system product key.
  5. Left click or tap on the “Activate” button.
  6. Reboot the Windows 8 or Windows 10 device.
  7. Check and see if you still have this issue.

3. Run SFC scan

4. Run the Update and Activation Troubleshooters

Since this error code usually occurs shortly after you installed the latest updates on your computer, running the Update Troubleshooter may also help you fix it. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshooter > select Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.

If the error persists, run the Windows 10 Activation Troubleshooter as well. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Troubleshooter. Wait until the tool completes the troubleshooting process, restart your computer and check if the error code 0xc004f074 persists.

5. Contact Microsoft Support

Try calling Microsoft support team and tell them what is the error you are getting and ask them to change your product key. In some cases when you try to use the product key too many times, it will get blocked by the server. In this case, you need to reset the product key with the help of Microsoft’s support team.
