Google Brings Gemini Personal Intelligence to AI Search Mode
Google is continuing to push deeper personalization across its AI products, and this time the focus is on Search.
According to a new blog post from Google, the company is rolling out Personal Intelligence in AI Mode for Search, an experimental feature designed to make search results more relevant on an individual level.
How Personal Intelligence works in AI Search
The update allows AI Mode to personalize responses using a user’s own Google data, including information from Gmail, Google Photos, travel bookings, and shopping activity. Users must explicitly opt in before any personal data connects to the feature.
Personal Intelligence in Search currently works with Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscriber accounts. Google is rolling it out as a Search Labs experiment in the United States, with English as the only supported language at launch.
Once enabled, AI Mode can use personal context to deliver more tailored answers and recommendations. This includes suggesting trips based on previous travel bookings, surfacing photos tied to specific locations, or refining shopping suggestions based on past activity.
Google says users remain in control at all times. People can choose which services connect to AI Mode, disable personalization whenever they want, and submit feedback if recommendations feel inaccurate.
The company also addressed privacy concerns directly. Google states that AI Mode does not train its models directly on Gmail or Google Photos data, and that privacy controls are built into the experience from the start.
Beyond Search, Google is also adding an Answer now button to Gemini, allowing users to get faster replies from the AI assistant with fewer steps.
In related AI news, Apple is reportedly planning to turn Siri into a full AI chatbot, highlighting growing competition as major tech companies race to deliver more personalized AI experiences.
