Google I/O 2024 is two months away, and Google is already excited to make new announcements. The big day is Tuesday, May 14, at 10 am PST (1 pm ET / 6pm BST), and it will also continue the next day.
CEO Sundar Pichai is expected to host the event at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. However, the exact information about the location has not been released.
The event will be broadcast to a live studio audience, and everyone else will be able to watch it via live stream.
Google I/O was announced using an interactive puzzle game on its website; however, there is no information about the event or what will be announced, but with the recent events and hints dropped by the tech giant, we might be able to presume what we might see.
What can you expect from I/O 2024?
A new hardware – Pixel 8a, maybe!
- The announcement of midrange Pixel 8a as Pixel 7a was first revealed in I/O 2023.
- The smartphone might have a Tensor 3 chipset and will be a little bigger than previous iterations.
- The device could have large bezels around the display.
Android 15
- Full introduction of Android 15.
- Could get lock screen widgets again.
- Ability to save pairs of apps.
Gemini updates
- More information on Gemma.
- Demonstration of what AI can do in future.
- There could be talks about how they will improve AI performance.
We also think that since everyone and everything is getting an AI enhancement, we could see AI developments in the new hardware Pixel 8a and even Android 15, but learning how the tech giant will integrate AI with the device and OS will remain a mystery till the event.
We could also see a glimpse of the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Tablet 2. However, we will not be surprised if Google holds the announcement back for some other event.
Furthermore, the company will discuss the changes coming to Google products, reveal new Workspace tools, and showcase Android 14 features, but we think the event will mainly revolve around Gemini as AI has all the hype in the market.
If you don’t want to miss the updates, you can register yourself online and it is free for everyone. It will keep you updated on the schedule; however, you need a developer profile for Google to register.
