Googlebook is Google’s AI-Powered Successor to Chromebooks

Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo expected to release the first models

Microsoft is pushing deeper into the laptop market with its Copilot+ PCs, and it seems that Google has finally decided to respond by introducing its own AI-focused device, called Googlebook.

Googlebook puts Gemini at the center

The device offers seamless integration between ChromeOS, Android, and Gemini. Googlebook is built around Gemini, with one of its key features being Magic Pointer. Simply by wiggling the cursor, users can access context-aware suggestions.

This allows them to use Gemini to set up meetings, combine images, and more. This isn’t all, as Googlebook will have the ability to create widgets by using AI prompts.

Widgets will be able to connect to Google services and perform web searches, allowing users to create fully personalized dashboards.

Android integration will make phone access easier

Besides deep Gemini integration, Googlebook offer Android integration, allowing users to browse phone files directly from their laptop without manual transfer. Additionally, users will be able to perform various phone tasks right from their laptops.

All Googlebooks will have a distinctive Glowbar, while the first models are expected to come from major manufacturers, including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

In other Google news, Chrome is getting redesigned PWA installs, while the Google Desktop App for Windows is now available globally.

Lastly, Google Chrome is getting a new Skills feature, allowing users to save and reuse prompts.
