GTA 6 Release Date Reaffirmed for November 19, 2026 by Take-Two CEO
Take-Two says launch remains on track
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has once again reaffirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for its November 19, 2026 release date, despite the game already suffering multiple delays.
Speaking in a recent interview highlighted by Insider Gaming, Zelnick said he knows exactly when the game will launch and repeated the now-familiar date with confidence. The comments arrive as anticipation around GTA 6 continues to dominate the gaming industry ahead of what many analysts expect to become one of the biggest entertainment launches ever.
GTA 6 has already slipped by nearly two years
Rockstar Games originally targeted a 2025 launch window for GTA 6 before pushing the game to May 2026. In November 2025, the company delayed the title again to November 19, 2026.
According to Zelnick, the project now sits roughly 18 months behind its initial internal target. Even so, his latest remarks suggest Take-Two believes development remains stable under the current schedule.
Back in April, during the iicon event, Zelnick joked that many people would likely be “calling in sick” on launch day due to the game’s popularity. His newest comments reinforce that confidence rather than hinting at another delay.
Take-Two calls GTA one of the most valuable entertainment properties ever
During the discussion, Zelnick was asked whether GTA represents the most successful gaming franchise of all time.
He avoided making a direct claim, saying success depends on how people measure it. He compared GTA with massive franchises such as Mario Kart and Call of Duty.
Still, he noted that GTA is widely considered one of the most valuable entertainment intellectual properties ever created.
GTA 5 continues generating massive engagement
Zelnick also briefly discussed the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
While he declined to reveal total revenue figures for GTA 5, he described the earnings simply as “a lot.” He credited the game’s long-term success to Rockstar’s continued updates, replay value, and strong online social features.
According to Zelnick, GTA Online remains popular because players treat it as both a game and a social platform where they can interact, communicate, and spend time together.
For now, Take-Two continues focusing on the console release of GTA 6 first. A PC version has not received an official release date yet, and industry expectations still point toward a later PC launch following the console debut.
