Take-Two CEO Vaguely Reconfirms GTA 6 Release Date & Hints at Pricing Approach
The game is still on track for November 19 release
GTA 6 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of this year. Every now and then, we keep hearing rumors and leaks about the game, with delay speculation constantly popping up these days.
Fortunately, multiple recent reports have pushed back against those claims, suggesting the November 19 release date is still on track. That’s especially after Take-Two’s CEO vaguely reconfirmed that GTA 6 remains set for a November 19 release.
Take-Two CEO sort of reconfirms the GTA 6 release date and provides pricing update
The news comes via IGN, which reports that speaking at iicon, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick not only talked about GTA 6 pricing but also jokingly reaffirmed that the game will be out on November 19. Here’s what he said:
“What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history – and it’s a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself. [He] thinks a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19.”
That witty remark is enough to debunk all the rumors going around about a delay for the game. In the context of GTA 6 pricing, Zelnick reportedly said, “Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery. How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got.”
Earlier this year, Zelnick also referred to a price point of $70 to $80 as the standard rate for premium titles. However, at the time, he didn’t explicitly link the pricing to GTA 6. Given the recent comments, it seems GTA 6 will be easier on players’ wallets, at least when compared to the value delivered by the game.
