Ever since Horizon Forbidden West came out, one of the most asked questions about Gorilla Games’ new title is if it can be played with a mouse and keyboard, instead of a controller.

Of course, PlayStation consoles have support for both keyboard and mouse, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the game itself will run on those peripherals.

Furthermore, Forbidden West has not been announced for PC yet, and it’s probably going to take one or two years before that even happens.

We say that based on the Zero Dawn example, a title that became available on Steam after more than two years since its official PlayStation launch.

Returning to the matter at hand, let’s get right into it and see if you can enjoy the new Horizon game with a mouse and keyboard.

Horizon Forbidden West is not playable with mouse+keyboard

From the information available so far, and from users trying to play Forbidden West the unconventional way, with a mouse and keyboard, this isn’t possible.

In this situation, many would have already gone through the options menu from top to bottom, to see if any mouse and keyboard integration has been added to the PS4 or PS5 version of the game.

However, those that did found themselves disappointed, as the feature doesn’t exist for Horizon Forbidden West, unfortunately.

You should know that disconnecting the controller and trying to use mouse and keyboard as the only input will have the game prompt you to connect a controller in order to continue playing.

Don’t get the wrong idea here, because the PlayStation 5 console acknowledges and supports these PC-specific peripherals, but nothing happens when you press buttons in-game.

That being said, if you are among the gamers that absolutely must play it with mouse and keyboard, your best option is to wait for this title to be released on Steam.
