At the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 and Starfield Direct event, there were a lot of exciting announcements. The Game Pass is coming to NVIDIA GeForce Now, meaning you can easily play games available on GeForce Now pretty much on every supported device.
Over 5000 new games are in development for the Xbox, and games such as Forza Horizon and Senua II are coming soon to Xbox as well. But the star of the event was, obviously, Starfield.
Developed by Bethesda, Starfield is an upcoming role-playing game that will take you to space, across a vast distance with hundreds of locations to visit.
Microsoft and Besheda both expect Starfield to become a commercial sensation and a cultural phenomenon. As a result, the video game will be available in the Game Pass catalog right at launch.
However, it seems that Starfield is taking quite the storage on your system. According to a Reddit user, Microsoft Store has listed the amount of space needed for the game. And it’s a lot.
How much storage will Starfield take up? [System requirements]
Microsoft Store says you’ll need at least 125 GB of free storage to be able to install Starfield. To play it, however, you’ll likely need much more. So brace yourselves, and upgrade your systems/storage, if you want to play this exciting video game.
Starfield will be available to Windows systems, and Xbox consoles this fall, in September 2023, so if you don’t have that enough space, there is more than enough time to upgrade your system.
Either way, you’ll be needing additional SSD space for patches, possible expansions, and so on. As the game looks and feels beautiful, it will ask for a lot of resources from your system, especially if you plan to play it on a PC.

Note that while you won’t need much RAM, as 16 GB is the standard now, you will need to be up to date with your Windows. So head over, and update it too while we’re at it.
Starfield might not have a physical disk copy
According to a now-deleted tweet from Bethesda Support, it seems that Starfield might not have a physical disk copy at all.
It will most probably have a box with a code in it, which you can use to download Startfield onto your device. However, the tweet was deleted, so take this update with a pinch of salt. There is still some time until Starfield hits the digital stores, in September, so Bethesda might change their mind.
Update: Starfield has gone gold and you can now preload the game on your Xbox X/S
According to Bethesda, Starfield has gone gold, meaning that now the game is ready to release. Even more, starting today, you’ll be able to preload Starfield on your Xbox S/X, and Windows, and on August 30th, it will be available to preload on Steam.
