We don’t often come across coincidences in the Windows ecosystem. Everything is part of an elaborate and well-thought-of system, with a dedicated set of professionals working on it around the clock. But we came across something fascinating about Windows 11!
Recently, a user on Reddit pointed out that the individual squares in the Windows 11 Start Menu icon are 11px wide and 11px tall.
While there’s no clear mention, this is probably under 100% scaling. Another user pointed out that the size of the individual boxes changes to 13x13px at 125% scaling and 16x16px at 150% scaling.
While the OP (Original Poster) on Reddit used Screen Ruler in Microsoft PowerToys, you can also discover the pixels using a screenshot-capturing app. Just capture the relevant part and identify its dimensions.
Is this just a coincidence? It is difficult to say. The only way to find out is to wait for the next iteration of the OS and see if the same pattern continues.
Irrespective of that, the coincidence fascinated everyone, and many came forward to share their take on the matter.
Windows 11 – 11px x 11px!
Windows 12 – 12px x 12px?
At least something is pixel-perfect.
You can’t say that about other taskbar icons.
How bored were you to find this satisfying information?
To discover similar fascinating things on your PC, perhaps download Microsoft PowerToys. But make sure to learn about it before you start making the changes.
