How to install the .Net Framework in Windows 10

Depending on the type of application you want to use in your Windows 10 operating system you might get an error message regarding the .net framework. Basically, you might be asked for a different version of .net framework than the one you are using for a specific app to run normally. So without any further discussion, you will find a couple of rows below how you can install the .net framework on your Windows 10 device and resolve all your issues.

Usually, when you have issues with an app it will always ask you to download and install the .net framework from the internet but you will see below that you can do it directly from the Windows 10 CD/DVD if you follow the instructions posted below.

Tutorial on how to install .net framework in your Windows 10 device:

  1. First of all, you will need to place in your Windows 10 device the boot CD/DVD or external hard drive with Windows 10 installation media on it.
  2. Now that you have your CD/DVD with Windows 10 installation media you will have to double click or tap on the “This PC” which you can find on the desktop of the operating system or in the Start menu.
  3. You will need to find and write down the drive letter of the CD/DVD Windows 10 installation Media.
  4. Left click or tap on the “Start” button you have on the lower left side of the screen.
  5. In the search box you have there you will need to write the following: “command prompt” without the quotes.
  6. Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
  7. After the search is finished you need to right-click on the “Command prompt” icon and left click or tap on the “Run as administrator” feature.
  8. If you are prompt by a user account control window you will need to left click or tap on the “Yes” button in that window.
  9. In the command prompt window that shows up you will need to write the following command without the quotes:
    “Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:E:sourcessxs /LimitAccess”
    Note: In this case, the Windows 10 Installation media is on the “E” drive. If you have it on another letter drive please place instead of the “E” letter from the above syntax the letter you have it on.
  10. Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
  11. This should start the installation of the .net framework on to your Windows 10 operating system.
  12. When the installation is completed you will need to close the “Command Prompt”window.
    Note: When the installation is completed you will get the message “The operation completed successfully”
  13. Reboot your Windows 10 operating system.
  14. After the Windows 10 device powers up again you can go and see if you have your .net framework installed on your system.
