Thousands of users worldwide are currently stranded as ChatGPT isn’t working. Outage tracker site, Downdetector recorded a massive spike in user outage reports around 3 PM IST, with over 2600 user reports, alongside thousands more across global regions including India.

Users across both web and mobile platforms are running into brick walls, constantly seeing errors like “Too many concurrent requests,” connection timeouts, and total failures to generate responses or load previous chat histories.

OpenAI has officially acknowledged the widespread incident on its status dashboard, confirming that they are currently experiencing issues marked by elevated error rates across multiple core services. The ongoing outage isn’t just limited to the main ChatGPT interface, it is also disrupting developer APIs and Codex services.

OpenAI’s engineering team confirmed they are actively investigating the issue, which has been dragging on for over 40 minutes. In the meantime, if your work is stuck, checking status.openai.com for real-time updates or jumping over to alternative AI tools like Claude or Gemini is your best bet until the servers recover.
