Discord appears to be experiencing a fresh outage, with hundreds of users reporting problems accessing the popular messaging platform. Reports began climbing sharply early Wednesday, suggesting the issue may be affecting users across multiple regions rather than a single location.

Outage reports spike as users encounter Discord issues

According to Downdetector, reports related to Discord issues surged from a baseline of just 21 reports to around 460 reports as of writing this. Based on user reports, many users are having issues related to messaging in the Discord app or website, and voice calling issues. Meanwhile Google Search trends suggests that Discord GIFs aren’t working or loading for many right now.

As of now, Discord hasn’t acknowledge an outage or issues reported by users lately. While a sudden spike in Downdetector reports doesn’t necessarily mean a global issue, but it often provides an early indication that something may be affecting a significant number of users.

If the problem is being caused by Discord’s servers, there is little users can do besides waiting for the company to deploy a fix. However, if only a handful of users are affected, restarting the app, checking your internet connection, switching networks, or trying Discord in a web browser may help rule out local connectivity problems.

We’ll update this story if Discord acknowledges the incident or if service starts returning to normal.

This is a developing story…
