Lenovo's New Legion Go Fold Handheld Doubles as a Folding PC
Lenovo is preparing to showcase a wild new take on portable gaming at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. A recent leak suggests the company developed a hybrid Windows 11 device called the Legion Go Fold Concept.
Instead of forcing you to choose between a portable gaming console and a traditional computer, this new hardware attempts to be both. According to a report from Windows Latest, the Legion Go Fold utilizes a foldable POLED display that expands from a compact 7.7-inch screen into a much larger 11.6-inch monitor.
Four distinct modes for play and productivity
The true appeal of the device lies in its versatility. In its folded state, you can attach the wireless controllers to either side for a standard handheld experience. Unfold the screen vertically, and you get a split-screen setup where you can play a game on one half while watching a video or monitoring chat on the other.
If you want maximum immersion, you can unfold the screen horizontally, attach the controllers, and play across the full 11.6-inch display. Finally, the hardware offers an expanded desktop mode. By propping the screen up and using an included wireless keyboard with a built-in trackpad, the handheld effectively transforms into a clamshell laptop. The right controller even features a tiny built-in screen and acts as a vertical mouse.
The hardware running under the hood
An Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor and a generous 32GB of RAM power this folding hybrid. The battery capacity sits at 48Wh, which might struggle to support extended gaming sessions without a charger nearby, given the demands of Windows 11 and a foldable OLED screen.
Lenovo is actively testing the boundaries of portable PC gaming hardware. While the Legion Go Fold remains strictly a concept device right now, the company has a history of turning ambitious prototypes into retail products within a relatively short timeframe.
We will likely learn more about its potential future when MWC kicks off on March 2.
