Microsoft’s LinkedIn affected by massive layoffs

Microsoft’s employment-focused social network platform, LinkedIn becomes the latest tech firm to be affected by massive layoffs. The Information reports the platform’s recruitment department was hit by massive layoffs on Monday, though it doesn’t detail the exact number of people affected.

This news comes after Microsoft announced its plan to cut 10,000 jobs over the next three months in a bid to cut down on its expenditure. Last week, we saw the company’s plans begin to take shape where 617 employees reportedly lost their jobs across the Surface devices, HoloLens mixed reality hardware, and Xbox divisions.

343 Industries was also hit last month though Microsoft promised to continue supporting Halo Infinite. This isn’t the first time LinkedIn has had to lay off its employees, at the height of the pandemic, the company let go of some of its employees to restructure and adjust to the tough economic times it was facing.

We are likely to see more layoffs in the next few months across various divisions and departments at Microsoft. GitHub has already been hit by layoffs, and further announced that the hiring freeze is still in effect coupled with several changes geared toward cost saving.
