When Windows chief, Pavan Davuluri, recently said that Windows is evolving into an agentic OS, he actually meant it. Yes, he got a heavy backlash for that, but the announcements made today at Ignite 2025 suggest that Microsoft is indeed going down that path.

Well, Microsoft has announced a bunch of new AI features across its apps, which might debut early next year. Microsoft says that these updates are designed to make using Windows faster and more efficient, while you stay productive without any hassle.

First of all, Windows 11 will soon allow users to generate or rewrite text across the entire OS. This capability works in any text box, in any app, giving users a consistent way to create or improve content. On Copilot+ PCs, this feature uses the onboard NPU, allowing text generation to work even without an internet connection.

If you use the Outlook app, AI-generated summaries are coming for you very soon. As the name suggests, these summaries provide a quick overview of your inbox, helping you prioritize messages and focus on what matters most. Meanwhile, Word and PowerPoint will be able to automatically generate alt-text for images, making documents more accessible without extra effort.

Last but not least, Windows 11 will also introduce “fluid dictation,” an AI-driven voice feature that converts speech into text. It automatically corrects grammar, punctuation and removes filler words or sounds, making it easier to create clean, professional text from spoken input.

All in all, the upcoming updates aim to make AI a seamless part of daily work, helping you save time and stay productive across devices and apps.
