Microsoft Build 2026 Conference: Start Time, How to Watch & What to Expect

Microsoft’s biggest developer event of the year is officially here and going with the trends don’t be surprised if AI takes the center stage once again. Build 2026 kicks off today in San Francisco, placing Microsoft directly between Google’s recent I/O event and Apple’s upcoming WWDC keynote.

While developers are preparing for two days of announcements and technical sessions, most of you must be eager to know what Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella would announce at the opening keynote.

Microsoft’s AI push is far from observer

Microsoft has already hinted that Build 2026 will revolve heavily around AI-powered tools, developer platforms, and the next phase of its Copilot ambitions. According to the company’s own event description, executives will outline how developers can build across Microsoft’s ecosystem during what it calls the “AI era.”

That wording alone gives a pretty strong clue about where the presentation is headed. Recent reports have also pointed toward new AI models, additional Copilot capabilities, and fresh Windows experiences that could be unveiled during the keynote.

Windows could get some attention too

AI may be the headline act, but it likely won’t be the only story. Microsoft recently introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra, a new premium device powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform. The laptop is expected to launch later this year, making Build a logical place for Microsoft to provide a closer look at the hardware and explain how it fits into the company’s broader AI strategy. Meanwhile, Windows users will be watching closely for any operating system announcements that extend beyond Copilot features.

How to watch Build 2026 Conference

The opening keynote begins at 12:30PM ET | 9:30AM PT and will be streamed live online for free. Microsoft is broadcasting the event through its official channels, while additional sessions will remain available through the Build virtual experience for registered attendees.
