Microsoft Confirms Office Installation Issues on Windows 365 Devices

Microsoft has confirmed a new issue affecting Office downloads and installations on Windows 365 devices. The problem appeared after a recent service configuration change and currently impacts users attempting to install Microsoft Office through normal deployment methods.

The incident is internally tracked as WP1309017.

Microsoft says a service update caused the issue

According to Microsoft, a recent service update introduced a configuration change that disrupted Office installation processes on Windows 365 environments.

Affected users may experience failed downloads, installation errors, or incomplete Office setup attempts when deploying Microsoft Office on cloud PCs.

Microsoft currently classifies the issue as an advisory instead of a major outage. This suggests the company believes the impact remains partial rather than affecting every Windows 365 customer globally.

Microsoft is working on a fix

Microsoft says it is actively developing a fix and validating deployment before releasing it broadly.

The company also warned customers that the resolution process may take time because engineers still need to complete rollout validation steps before deployment begins.

Microsoft expects to provide another status update on Friday.

Any Windows 365 customer installing Office could be affected

Microsoft stated that any Windows 365 user attempting to install Office may encounter the issue.

The advisory mainly affects organizations provisioning new cloud PCs, deploying Office to employees, or reinstalling Microsoft 365 apps on existing Windows 365 systems.

Temporary workaround already available

Until Microsoft releases a permanent fix, affected users can manually download Office directly from the Microsoft 365 portal.

This workaround allows users to bypass the affected installation path while Microsoft continues remediation efforts.

In related Microsoft 365 news, Microsoft recently urged users to migrate away from Office LTSC 2021 as support deadlines approach. The company also acquired Fintool and plans to integrate its capabilities into Microsoft 365 services.

Microsoft additionally introduced a revamped Copilot experience across its productivity apps to make AI features easier to access.
