Microsoft Edge on Android is testing an improvement to Copilot’s video summarization feature. Until now, Copilot could generate a transcript of videos but lacked timestamps, making it difficult for users to navigate directly to specific sections. With the new ‘Copilot Video Transcript with Timestamp’ flag in Edge Canary, timestamps are now integrated into video summaries—especially for YouTube.
Users running Edge Canary on Android can activate this feature by enabling the ‘Copilot Video Transcript with Timestamp’ flag.
Once enabled, when you visit YouTube, play a video, and further click on the Copilot icon, video summaries will display timestamps, allowing users to quickly jump to relevant sections without manually scrubbing through the video.
If a user finds a key point in Copilot’s transcript, they must manually locate that section in the video. With timestamps, they can simply click and navigate directly to the corresponding moment.
This feature is particularly useful for various video types. For instance, students can quickly find key explanations in educational videos, while news and interviews become easier to follow with direct access to relevant quotes. Tutorials and how-to guides allow users to locate specific steps effortlessly, and long-form content like podcasts and lectures benefit from easier browsing without unnecessary replays
That’s not all. Microsoft is deprecating Mobile Wallet in Edge on Android. Additionally, when it comes to the desktop, Microsoft Edge is testing Copilot Mode with the New Tab Page and built-in Copilot Search. The company also plans to include Copilot suggestions in Find on Page.
