Microsoft Edge 133 is finally available in the Beta Channel within the Edge Insider Program, and it’s the most significant build released in 2025 so far, with many enhancements, improvements, fixes, policies, and new features, including a new scareware blocker.
The Redmond-based tech giant knows that online scams are becoming more popular now than ever, so it is releasing a way to combat them through a scareware blocker. According to the build’s release notes, the tool is powered by AI and will protect users from scareware attacks or online scams.
Users will only have to enable it, and the scareware blocker will use AI to identify and block scams in Microsoft Edge.
The Redmond-based tech giant says the new tool is in preview, and users can opt-in via Settings under edge://settings/privacy.
Microsoft detailed the cyber threat further in a blog post released earlier this week, showcasing examples of how it can easily access one’s PCs and devices without much hassle.
They usually move fast to evade detection, and they use the full-screen mode to camouflage themselves. The Redmond-based tech giant says scareware also uses audio and keyboard mouse tricks to incite panic.
However, Edge will be able to tackle these attacks quite easily, thanks to the new scareware blocker, which can be enabled within the browser, and Microsoft advises everybody to do so.
The other features released with Edge 133 include non-special scheme URL handling, support for viewing MIP Protected Files to different sovereignties, updated UI for downloads, and many more.

In similar news, the Redmond-based tech giant also released the latest Edge 132 to the stable channel, and the build deprecated the Support Page, only to scatter its policies and settings among four different sections.
