Last week, Microsoft made a big move by releasing the most recent Canary Channel 26263 build of Windows 11. This was intended for those bold ones in the Windows Insider Program.

But Microsoft has done something that got the tech industry’s attention—they have stopped this update. You may wonder why. That’s the million-dollar question because Microsoft’s keeping mum on the details.

This happened: Initially, this update appeared to be a small advancement. It introduced an interesting new account manager experience within the Windows 11 Start menu. Its main things were a fast glance at your account benefits and an easier method for adjusting account settings.

UPDATE 6/18: We have temporarily paused the rollout of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26236 in the Canary Channel. We will resume flights to the Canary Channel shortly.

There were also a few bug repairs and “a small set of general improvements and fixes,” without much detail about what these might include. But later, Microsoft quietly changed their blog post to mention they had paused the process of rolling out this build. They didn’t provide any reasons for it.

And it’s not always smooth. There were a few known problems with this Canary Channel update. Some insiders got stuck on previous builds and couldn’t progress forward. Some people say that the colors of the performance section in Task Manager were slightly wrong when using dark mode.

So, what now? Microsoft assures us that the Canary Channel flights will be back soon. But for now, we all must ponder why this sudden pause happened.

Was it because of a crucial bug or maybe something more fascinating? We must wait and see. Keep watching because it will be important for you to find out when Microsoft starts giving Windows 11 build 26236 to Canary Channel Insiders again. Until then, you can download Canary 26241.
