Microsoft recently deprecated a relatively modern feature, Suggested Actions in Windows 11, introduced in May 2022. Suggested actions worked as an AI-driven feature recognizing phone numbers and date/time, offering quick actions like initiating a phone call or creating an event.
The feature was part of build 25115, and Microsoft has now decided to retire it without much explanation. In the official documentation, Microsoft said that suggested actions are deprecated and will be removed in a future Windows 11 update.
The deprecation was announced this month, but there is no official date for it, so it might be around for a while.
Considering Suggested Actions was released in 2022, the decision to deprecate it so soon might be a shock for some, especially since the capability is quite useful. However, that doesn’t mean it’s popular.
The Redmond-based tech giant has deprecated several other Windows features this year, including Paint 3D. If you want to check out the complete list of deprecated Windows features, head over to the official support document here.
