Soon, Microsoft will add AI features to its games and consoles. The technology is already present in most of their software and hardware products. Also, the company is hiring members for their Gaming AI team. This indicates that they have great plans for the future of gaming. In addition, some games already use AI for their NPCs’ behavior, especially in their interaction with players.
AI NPCs will make your game experience more pleasant because you won’t have to go through the same dialogue. However, the training process for the large language model will be tedious because the AI NPC needs to follow a strict conduit. Otherwise, it might result in unwanted exploits. For example, imagine a character telling you where are all the secret items from the game.
Does Xbox have an AI?
Xbox consoles don’t have AI. However, this is subject to change. The newest console might support AI in games. Additionally, according to Microsoft, it will be the most powerful Xbox. Unfortunately, it will have no CD-ROM and will be fully digital.
The future of Microsoft gaming is AI because the company keeps trying to bring such experiences to Xbox games and engines. In addition, the company will focus on gamers and developers to offer them a better sense of community. Also, Microsoft founded an Xbox Gaming AI group that will use advanced LLMs for gaming. Now, the company is looking for a Senior Director of Applied Sciences for the team, who will work with multiple studios to bring AI to games.
Last but not least, we can’t wait to see the future of Microsoft AI Gaming, and we hope that the new console will have at least some new features. After all, AI NPCs in gaming will finally change the way we interact with monotonous dialogues. Furthermore, imagine the bosses from Souls games learning our fighting patterns to counter our attacks. By using generative AI in games, Microsoft might create a new difficulty level.
What are your thoughts? What features would you like to see improved by AI in games? Will you buy the new fully digital console if it uses AI? Let us know in the comments.
