Microsoft has launched a new Xbox Cloud Gaming preview that lets players purchase streaming hours without a Game Pass subscription. The new option starts at $3.99 for 10 hours, with a wider rollout planned for November 2026.

Starting October 21, Xbox Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription can test standalone cloud playtime before Microsoft makes it more widely available.

Xbox Cloud Gaming playtime prices start at $3.99

Microsoft has revealed three introductory cloud gaming packages:

  • 10 hours: $3.99
  • 25 hours: $7.99
  • 50 hours: $11.99

All three packages include ad-free cloud gaming, shorter queue times, and high-quality streaming.

Unlike subscription-based monthly allowances, purchased cloud playtime does not expire. Players can keep their remaining hours until they use them.

Microsoft has not confirmed whether these introductory prices will change after the wider launch.

Standalone cloud gaming launches in November

Microsoft plans to expand standalone cloud playtime purchases in November 2026, allowing more players to stream games without maintaining a Game Pass subscription.

The announcement follows Microsoft’s decision to introduce monthly cloud gaming limits across all Xbox Game Pass tiers, with subscribers able to purchase additional streaming hours once they reach their included allowance.

The changes come amid broader developments at Xbox. Recently, the Xbox CTO pushed back against reports of internal disagreements over Project Helix’s operating system, while another report claimed that private equity firms explored acquiring Xbox in a deal worth up to $150 billion.
