Notepad summarize AI

The Notepad update introduces the ability to summarize content using generative AI. Users can select the text they want to summarize, right-click, and choose the “Summarize” option, or use the Ctrl + M keyboard shortcut.

According to the official blog post, this feature provides a quick way to condense content and experiment with different summary lengths.

Moreover, Notepad now includes a “Recent Files” section in the File menu, allowing users to quickly reopen recently closed documents. This highly-requested feature enhances the user experience by providing easy access to previously used files.

With recent files, you can now reopen your recently closed files directly within Notepad. To access Recent Files, open Notepad and go to the File menu, where you will find a list of your recently used documents. Click on any file to instantly reopen and continue editing.

The Redmond-based tech giant also updated Snipping Tool with the Draw & Hold feature, which allows users to quickly add shapes and arrows to images by drawing them. Both the new capabilities for Notepad and Snipping Tool were released in the same patch.
