Microsoft PowerPoint Is Getting Copilot AI Photo Editing
Microsoft Copilot continues to expand across Windows and Microsoft 365, and the next stop appears to be PowerPoint. After recent tests around Copilot personalities and AI content watermarks, Microsoft is now preparing an AI-powered photo editing feature built directly into its presentation app.
Copilot brings prompt-based photo editing to PowerPoint
According to the Microsoft Roadmap, first spotted by WindowsReport, PowerPoint will soon allow users to edit images using Copilot with a single text prompt. Until now, users typically switched to Copilot chat or external image editing apps to make visual changes. This update removes that extra step and keeps everything inside PowerPoint.
With the upcoming feature, users will be able to describe the edit they want in natural language and let Copilot handle the rest. Microsoft has not shared detailed examples yet, but the focus appears to be fast, in-context image adjustments without leaving a slide.
Microsoft plans to start rolling out the Copilot image editing feature globally in February. Access will be limited to Microsoft 365 subscribers, and availability may vary depending on region and tenant configuration during the initial rollout.
As with other Copilot features, Microsoft will likely expand capabilities over time once early feedback comes in.
The PowerPoint update arrives alongside broader Copilot experimentation, including customizable Copilot personalities and ongoing work on watermarking AI-generated content in Microsoft 365.
Separately, Microsoft recently released an emergency Office security fix addressing a zero-day exploit. While supported versions received the patch, some older Office releases may remain vulnerable, highlighting Microsoft’s push to keep users on actively supported software.
More details about Copilot updates and Office security changes are expected in the coming weeks as Microsoft continues refining its AI-first productivity strategy.
