Microsoft Copilot and Teams featured on a road

Microsoft decided to focus on the development of Copilot AI. So, the company started to reorganize its employees from different departments. As a result, some of the people working on the Teams app will switch projects. Unfortunately, the structural changes of Microsoft also led to layoffs.

What will happen to the employees after the structural changes of Microsoft?

According to Business Insider, Microsoft reorganized the teams managed by Jared Spataro, the head of AI at Work. Some employees will form new groups focused on Copilot’s features and products, while others will merge into a single one working on Teams. Also, the company will relocate some employees to a new Copilot and “future of work” team. Additionally, Colette Stallbaumer will be the general manager of the new group.

Jared Spataro said the company is going through a significant change, as it did in 2022 for the Teams app. However, Microsoft will continue to focus on and improve the software even after the structural changes. Yet, it is uncertain how their decision will impact the app’s development.

Frank Shaw, Microsoft spokesman confirmed that the company will continue focusing on the Teams app. In addition, Copilot in Teams is one of the features most customers use. On top of that, the app had 300 million monthly active users in 2023. After all, it offers many features for hybrid and remote work.

Microsoft could use the opportunity that comes with its structural changes to bring more AI features to the Teams app. However, If you haven’t tried Copilot in Teams yet, know that it can help you catch up with chats, add references and citations, search for information, and more.

In a nutshell, Microsoft goes through structural changes to improve the development of Copilot AI. For this, the company is reducing the number of employees working on the Teams app. However, Microsoft will continue to work on the software because it has millions of active users. Thus, we might soon receive new AI features inTeams and in general.
