Microsoft Releases New Windows 11 Experimental (26H1) Update for Insiders
Microsoft has released new update notes for the Windows 11 Experimental (26H1) channel, continuing its transition away from the older Canary 28000 series branding. The company says the latest release mainly focuses on minor bug fixes and general system improvements rather than major new features.
No Major New Features in This Build
Unlike recent Beta and Channel releases, this Experimental update does not introduce any major user-facing features.
Microsoft says the build mainly improves stability and addresses smaller issues behind the scenes. Exact fixes were not revealed in the release notes.
This approach is common for Experimental channel builds, which often focus on testing platform-level changes before broader rollout stages begin.
Controlled Feature Rollout Still Applies
Microsoft also confirmed that many features in the Experimental channel continue to use Controlled Feature Rollout technology.
This means only a portion of Insiders receive certain features initially, while Microsoft gradually expands availability over time based on feedback and telemetry that influence broader rollout decisions.
The system allows Microsoft to detect bugs and compatibility issues before features reach larger groups of testers.
Alongside the new Experimental build, Microsoft also recently released a fresh Windows 11 Beta build adds new loading animations and better search with additional interface changes and improvements, and another Windows 11 Experimental build adds smaller Start menu and more.
