KB5044284

Microsoft has rolled out the October 2024 Patch Tuesday updates for all supported versions of Windows 11 — including Windows 11 24H2, 23H2, 22H2, and 21H2. The updates are KB5044284, KB5044285, and KB5044280, respectively.

Here’s what’s new in each release:

24H2 (KB5044284): This update addresses security vulnerabilities and includes improvements shipped in last month’s update.

23H2 (KB5044285) and 22H2 (KB5044285): This update addresses security vulnerabilities.

21H2 (KB5044280): This update addresses security vulnerabilities and includes improvements from last month’s update.

In addition to the above updates, Microsoft released a servicing stack update for Windows 11 24H2 (KB5046306), improving the component responsible for installing Windows updates. The update has no known issues.

One known issue with KB5046306 is that players cannot download and play Roblox on ARM devices via the Microsoft Store on Windows 11 24H2. Instead, they can download the title directly from the Roblox website.

If you prefer to install updates offline, you can grab KB5044284, KB5044285, and KB5044280 here.

Microsoft recommends installing the latest cumulative updates when they become available. Keeping your system up to date is an excellent way to ensure you receive patches for potentially serious vulnerabilities actively exploited by attackers.

And there’s another reason to keep your device updated: Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 will be supported for 36 months. That’s three years before you consider upgrading to the next version of Windows 11, assuming you’re OK with the end of Windows 11 Home and Pro support on October 14, 2027.
