windows 10 enterprise retirement

Microsoft is determined to retire Windows 10, in favor of Windows 11, as certain editions are coming to their planned end of life.

It seems the time has come for the remaining few editions of Windows 10 21H2, so here’s what you should know.

Support for certain editions of Windows 10 21H2 will end this summer

According to Bleeping Computer, Microsoft has updated its Windows 10 documentation, and it plans to end support for older versions of Windows 10 on June 11.

All these versions are running the 21H2 version, which was released way back in November 2021. The following editions will reach the end of service:

  • Windows 10 Enterprise, version 21H2
  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, version 21H2
  • Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session, version 21H2
  • Windows 10 Education, version 21H2

This move comes as no surprise since Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations 21H2 versions reached their end of life in June last year.

After June 11, these editions won’t receive any security updates, thus becoming vulnerable. To remedy this issue, Microsoft advises upgrading to version 22H2 or Windows 11.

Despite these efforts, many are reluctant to switch as two-thirds of users are still on Windows 10. However, as the end of life for their editions approaches, more and more users will make the switch.
