Scammers are now using the rnicrosoft typo to hack Microsoft accounts

It’s not surprising that Microsoft has been one of the most popular targets for scamming: from hacking Microsoft 365 accounts to increasing AI-driven cyberattacks on the Redmond-based tech giant, the company is constantly bombarded with dozens of attacks every day.

While most can be easily spotted – after all, users now know how to spot a suspecting emails – hackers are coming up with ingenious ways to bypass every sort of security measure. The latest of these tricks is to replace the microsoft word from the email sent by Microsoft with rnicrosoft.

Can you spot the difference? If not, then you’re susceptible to this simple, but effective hack.

The ‘m’ in the second word is made up of ‘r’+’n’, which together seem like ‘m’, but it’s not. I had to pay close attention to this Reddit post until I found out what was wrong.

Apparently, this is working in some parts of the world, and according to this Reddit post, users are constantly getting hit with it. The ‘rn’ is also placed very conveniently in the email address, in a place users are not typically inclined to check.

As you can see in the picture, everything goes smoothly until you pay close attention. But it might all be too late if you don’t pay close attention when the time is right.

So rnicrosoft is another typo you have to be careful about. It’s right there in your face, but you only have to see it.
