Microsoft is all about giving organizations and IT managers the tools they need to gain insights on traffic, usage, and statistics that could help them implement better strategies to use Microsoft products and services.
After the Redmond-based tech giant introduced the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard, which is a new platform that is going to be released on Viva Pulse, and Viva Glint to analyze and keep track of the interaction and usage of the Copilot tool by employees, Microsoft will also release a similar dashboard to Microsoft Stream, its video-streaming tool within SharePoint.
According to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the dashboard is already available for those SharePoint users who enlisted for the private preview of the feature, but it will be generally available to all SharePoint users in June 2024.
Similar to the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard, this one will have different sections:
- A Lifetime Video report containing 3 metrics to analyze SharePoint sites’ videos: Total Views, Unique Viewers, and Average Watch Rate.
- A Video Traffic report containing information about views and viewer patterns across the last 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days.
- Video usage report that shows views and users by preferred device and geolocation.
- The top 20 Videos report will show the most popular 20 videos on the SharePoint site of the week.
This dashboard gives access to aggregated analytics for videos on a SharePoint site. This feature will go live in late January for customers enrolled in the private preview of Stream advanced video analytics. Customers interested in applying to join the private preview may submit an application via the URL associated with this roadmap item. We expect the dashboard to enter general availability in June. The metrics on this dashboard are divided into the following sections: First, the Lifetime Video report contains 3 metrics for videos on the SharePoint site—Total Views, Unique Viewers, and Average Watch Rate. Second, Video Traffic report shows views and viewer patterns across the last 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days. Third, Video Usage shows views by device and geolocation. Fourth, Top 20 Videos shows a list of the most popular videos on the SharePoint site in the last week.

The video analytics dashboard coming to Microsoft Stream should be quite useful to organizations managing their internal sites through SharePoint, as it can offer valuable information that can be used to implement new strategies to engage with employees.
