Microsoft Teams is getting a new feature that will allow users to swap between shared content and Gallery view during meetings. The feature is now rolling out to public preview users in the Windows 10 and macOS desktop clients.

The new swap experience in Teams meetings brings support for clicking on the video feeds to swap the content with the participants’ gallery. “When you have a meeting and someone shares content, you can now click on participant videos in gallery view to swap the content with gallery,” the company explained. “By clicking on participant videos, you are able to swap. So you can bring videos to the center and content like shared desktop/window, PowerPoint Live presentation or Whiteboard to the side/top.”

Microsoft noted that participants will need to click on the shared content again to put it back to the center of the meeting window. Moreover, the swap feature is also supported in the Large Gallery view and Together mode. Previously, the app used to disable the 49-person Large Gallery view in screen sharing mode, but this release lets users enable Large Gallery while sharing content or screen.

The software giant has also outlined some limitations that will apply to the swap experience in Teams. Currently, Whiteboard content and PowerPoint Live presentations cannot be viewed in the swap state. The feature is still in preview, and Microsoft will likely address this issue before making it generally available for everyone.
