Microsoft is set to enhance its Teams platform to allow users to schedule messages in channels, even days ahead. With the new enhancement, users can optimize the timing of their messages based on the recipient’s work hours, remote availability, and so on to ensure they receive the message at a suitable time.
This enhancement will impact the desktop version of Teams, and the recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap doesn’t mention the mobile version at all, meaning you won’t be able to schedule messages in Teams from your phone.
Here’s what the entry says:
Like in chat, you can now schedule send messages in channels. You can optimize the timing of your messages based on the recipient’s work hours, out-of-office time, etc, and ensuring your messages are delivered at the most suitable time.
The ability to schedule messages in Teams chats is already live, but this new enhancement will allow users to tightly control the way they communicate in Teams chats and channels.
The new ability is set to be released in January 2025, and as we mentioned earlier, only the platform’s Desktop version is impacted for now. These features might be added to the mobile version at a later date.
In other news, Microsoft Teams was recently updated to support a unified chat and channel experience that will help users catch up with all of their organizations more easily and quickly.
