Microsoft Tests Remove PC Option in Link to Windows Mobile App
Microsoft is rolling out a new Remove PC option in the Link to Windows Android app, giving users a simpler way to delete linked Windows PCs directly from their phone, as reported by Windows Latest.
The feature appears in the Android app’s Linked PCs settings and removes the need to access the Windows PC or rely only on Microsoft account device management.
The option is currently available for some beta testers. It was spotted in Link to Windows beta version 1.26062.125.0-preprod.
Link to Windows Gets a Direct Remove PC Option
The new Remove PC button solves a long-running issue for users who had old, renamed, deleted, or disconnected PCs still appearing in the Link to Windows app.
Previously, some users could see outdated PCs in the Linked PCs list but had no direct way to remove individual entries from the Android app.
These PCs often appeared as disconnected, even when users no longer owned the device or had already removed it elsewhere.
With the new option, users can clean up their linked device list from the phone itself.
How to Remove a PC From Link to Windows
To remove a PC, you just need to open the Link to Windows app, head to Settings, tap Linked PCs, pick the device you want to remove, open its settings, and choose Remove PC.
Microsoft also notes that the PC may still appear on other mobile devices or inside other Microsoft products. In those cases, users may need to remove it separately.
Testing Shows the PC Disappears Immediately
After using the Remove PC option, the selected device disappears from the Linked PCs list immediately.
In testing, the removed PC also disappeared from the Microsoft account Devices page. That suggests the new option may remove linked PCs more completely than older workarounds.
However, the feature remains in beta, so behavior could vary depending on account setup, app version, and Microsoft’s rollout status.
Why This Was a Problem Before
The old Linked PCs list relied on a backend database that users could not directly manage from the app.
That explains why some old entries stayed visible even after users removed devices elsewhere or stopped using the linked PC.
Until now, some users had to sign out of the app entirely and start over to clean up the list. The new Remove PC option offers a more targeted fix.
Microsoft had reportedly been working on the issue since at least January.
Availability Remains Limited
The Remove PC option is currently limited to the preprod beta channel of the Link to Windows Android app.
Users on the regular public version may not see it yet.
Microsoft has not confirmed when the option will reach the stable version, but the beta rollout suggests the company is preparing a broader release.
Microsoft is also bringing the Quick Parts feature to the new Outlook.
In addition, Teams is getting a new Meeting AI toggle that lets organizers and presenters control AI features during meetings.
PowerToys Awake may also receive a redesigned flyout, giving users a faster way to manage PC sleep settings.
