windows migration app

Microsoft is apparently working on a new migration app that should allow users to transfer files between Windows devices in seconds. While the new app doesn’t have a design, tech enthusiasts such as @a_donglee, @phantomofearth, and @AhmedWalid605 were able to collaborate and create a mock-up of it.

According to the design, the new migration app can back up the PC or transfer its files to a new one using Wi-Fi connections. From there, it works similarly to Phone Link, as the device transfer and interaction should be seamless.

@a_donglee shared some potential images of this app detailing the UI, its settings, the options, and dialog boxes, as you can see in the posts below.

Interestingly, Windows 11 already has a similar app dedicated to backing up the PC in the cloud. However, the new migration app suits corporate environments where multiple PCs are close or directly next to each other. Thus, it would allow for faster transfer rates.

Traces of this app were found in the latest Beta Build of the Windows 11 Insider Program. While there isn’t a definitive date for its release, Microsoft might eventually release it this year.
