First Nintendo Switch 2

There is a huge hype around the long-expected Nintendo Switch 2 and right now there are a lot of allegedly right information about it after the user SwordfishAgile3472 posted 3D renderings of the console on Reddit.

The leaker claims to have access to information from the Chinese manufacturer of the Joy-Con controllers for Nintendo Switch 2.

Also, GamingLeaksAndRumours has tracked on Reddit many other updates from this source and even disclosed what seem to be a list of preliminary technical specifications of the portable gaming console.

They posted an image (shown below) with the specs in Chinese and translated it.

Source: Reddit

Here’s how the new Nintendo Switch 2 specs allegedly look like, according to the leaked image:

  • Shipping List Details Summary
  • HGU1100: Game console itself.
  • HGU1110: Left Joy-Con controller.
  • HGU1120: Right Joy-Con controller.
  • HGU1130: Dock.
  • Detailed Configuration List
  • SoCl (CPU + GPU) model: GMLX30-R-A1.
  • Memory model: MT62F768M64D4EK-026 (6GX2 dual channel, LPDDR5X, 7500 MT/s)
  • Flash memory model: THGJFGT1E45BAILHW0 (256GB, UFS 3.1, manufactured by Kaixia, 2100 MB/s).
  • Audio chip model: Ruiwu ALC5658-CG.
  • NFC reader model: NXP IPN7160B1HN
  • Built-in microphone model: CMB-MIC-X7.
  • Dual cooling fans, model BSM0405HPJH9 and BSM0505HPJQC (copper gaming heat sink).
  • Video signal conversion (DisplayPort to HDMI) must be chip model; Ruixian RTD2175N must be chip (support HDMI 2.1).
  • Network chip model: Ruiming RTL8153B-VB-CG and Gigabit Ethernet chip (the base has a network cable interface).
  • Microcontroller chip model: STMicroelectronics JSTM32G0OB0OCET6.
  • Video game console protective case model: HGU1100 (size: 206 x 115 x 14mm, made of plastic).
  • Speakers: MUSE BOX-L and MUSE BOX-R (two-channel stereo).

The first thing that pops up is the video game console protective case dimensions: 8.1×4.5×0.5 inches (206x115x14 mm) which seem a bit off. The previous model is 9.5 inches long and 4 inches high which would make the new Nintendo Switch 2 smaller. That, unless the protective case is meant to cover the console without the Joy Cons attached.

The featured image is, however, a rendering from another accessory manufacturer, Genki, who has a stand at CES 2025 featuring their joysticks for the new Nintendo console. They actually displayed a full 3D rendering animation on their website that shows the device in all its glory.

The folks from IGN went to Genki’s booth and according to their measurements based on the manufacturer’s plastic mockup, Nintendo Switch 2 will be 10.5″ wide, 4.5″ tall, .5″ thick and will have an 8″ screen. That actually matches the leaked measurements from the Chinese manufacturer and the fact that the protective case was only meant for the console itself, without controllers attached.

Right now, of course, we can’t make exact predictions, but if we believe the leaked specs, we can also expect 256 GB of storage, a Gigabit Ethernet interface for network cable connection (weird, right?), dual cool fans and a gaming heatsink. That can indicate a powerful GPU on board.

Genki also confirmed to IGN that their new accessories for Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in late April . Initially, we were expecting Nintendo Switch 2 in May, but the new information from the accessory manufacturer indicates a possible earlier launch.

Of course, we don’t have any clear information about the launch date and pricing from Nintendo. They chose to remain silent after all these developments, but we will probably have more news soon.
