NVIDIA RTX 6060 May Not Arrive Until 2029, Leaker Claims
NVIDIA’s next-generation mainstream graphics card, potentially called the GeForce RTX 6060, might not arrive until 2029 and could offer lower gaming performance than Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 6.
Hardware leaker Kepler_L2 made the claims during a NeoGAF discussion, suggesting that NVIDIA could prioritize higher-end graphics cards over mainstream models amid ongoing supply constraints.
The leaker also believes the RTX 6060 could fall behind the PS6 in gaming performance, although neither device has confirmed specifications.
NVIDIA RTX 60 series could face significant delays
Previous reports suggested that NVIDIA could delay RTX 60 series mass production until 2028, while the RTX 50 SUPER refresh could also face postponements.
If NVIDIA launches its flagship RTX 60 graphics cards first, more affordable models like the RTX 6060 might not reach consumers until 2029.
Historically, NVIDIA has introduced mainstream GeForce generations roughly 21 months apart on average. A 2029 release could extend that gap to at least 44 months, making it an unusually long wait for a mainstream GPU upgrade.
However, NVIDIA has not confirmed any delays, and the company could follow a different release schedule for individual models.
RTX 6060 specifications and performance remain unknown
NVIDIA has not officially announced the RTX 60 series, and even the RTX 6060 naming remains speculative. No confirmed specifications, benchmarks, pricing, or release dates exist.
The suggested performance gap between the RTX 6060 and PS6 therefore remains an unverified prediction rather than a benchmark-based comparison.
Meanwhile, separate rumors recently suggested that the RTX 5090 could be discontinued to make room for new models. NVIDIA later denied the RTX 5090 discontinuation rumors, although it acknowledged that GPU supply remains constrained.
For now, the RTX 6060’s potential 2029 launch and its rumored performance disadvantage against the PS6 should both be treated cautiously.
