The HP Omen Gaming Hub has a wide array of issues, but one that affected many recently is it not showing the CPU temp anymore. This is a widespread problem that appeared after an update around a month ago. Subsequent versions of Omen Gaming Hub resolved the issue for a few, but the majority remains affected.
This happened due to a bug in the installed Omen Gaming Hub version or missing permissions, active conflicting processes, and running outdated/incompatible drivers.
Before you proceed to the slightly complex solutions, restart the PC, install the latest Windows updates, and disable any other performance monitoring software!
What can I do if Omen Gaming Hub is not showing CPU temperature?
1. Terminate Omen Overlay and OverlayHelper
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, right click on HP.OMEN.OMENOverlay, and select End task.
- Similarly, terminate the HP.OMEN.Overlay.Overlayhelper process.
- Now, re-run the Omen Gaming Hub overlay and verify whether it’s displaying the CPU temperature.
For 3 out of 5 users, when the Omen Gaming Hub overlay is not showing CPU temp, terminating the related processes did the trick. Remember, this is only a workaround and not an actual solution to the problem. You will have to repeat it every time you face the problem!
2. Run Omen Gaming Hub as an administrator
- Press Windows + S to open Search, type Omen Gaming Hub, and click on Run as administrator.
- Click Yes in the UAC prompt.
- Wait for a few minutes until the app tries to load. It ultimately won’t.
- Now, restart the computer, then launch Omen Gaming Hub normally and check for improvements.
3. Update Omen Gaming Hub
- Press Windows + S to open Search, type Microsoft Store in the text field, and click on the relevant result.
- Navigate to Downloads from the left pane, and click on Get updates.
- If a newer version is available for Omen Gaming Hub, click on Update to download it.
- Once done, reboot the computer, then launch Omen Gaming Hub and check if it’s now showing the correct CPU temperature.
4. Install the latest drivers
- Press Windows + X to open the Power User menu, and select Device Manager.
- Expand all the entries here, right-click on the devices listed underneath individually, and select Update driver.
- Click on Search automatically for drivers and wait for Windows to install the best locally available version.
- Similarly, update the other drivers, and then restart the PC to apply the changes.
Outdated or incompatible device drivers can also prevent Omen Gaming Hub from effectively reading the CPU stats, including the utilization and temperature. So, you should update all the drivers!
If Windows can’t find a better version, go to the manufacturer’s official website, locate the new releases, and then manually install the latest drivers!
5. Repair or reset the Omen Gaming Hub
- Press Windows + I to open Settings, go to Apps from the left pane, and click on Installed apps.
- Scroll down, click on the ellipsis next to Omen Gaming Hub, and click on Advanced options.
- Click on Repair, wait for the process to complete, and check for improvements.
- If the issue persists, click on Reset.
- Again, click Reset in the confirmation prompt.
- Finally, restart the computer to apply the changes.
The built-in repair and reset functionalities can help when Omen Gaming Hub is not showing CPU temp or displaying the wrong temperature in Windows. A repair/reset fixes problematic app files that hinder its functioning!
6. Uninstall recent Windows updates
- Press Windows + I to open Settings, navigate to Windows Update from the left pane, and click on Update history.
- Scroll down to the bottom and click on Uninstall updates.
- Click Uninstall next to the recently downloaded update.
- Again, click Uninstall in the confirmation prompt.
- Once done, restart the PC and check for improvements.
If Omen Gaming Hub is still not showing CPU or GPU temperature, uninstall other Windows updates installed around the same time you first faced the issue!
7. Reinstall Omen Gaming Hub
- Press Windows + R to open Run, type appwiz.cpl in the text field, and hit Enter.
- Select Omen Gaming Hub from the list, and click on Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
- Similarly, remove any other Omen software from the PC and then perform a reboot.
- Finally, download Omen Gaming Hub from the Microsoft Store.
When a quick app removal doesn’t work, it’s likely that there are leftover files and Registry entries conflicting with Windows. So, I recommend using a top-rated software uninstaller to wipe all traces of the app before moving to the reinstallation part!
If none of the solutions here help fix Omen Gaming Hub when it’s not showing the CPU temp, you must contact HP support for a resolution. In the meantime, you can use another reliable performance monitoring software for Windows.
