OpenAI is reportedly working on a unified desktop “super app” that combines several of its core products into a single experience. According to CNBC, the initiative will be led by Fidji Simo, who will collaborate closely with OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman.

The move signals a shift in strategy as OpenAI looks to simplify its growing ecosystem and reduce fragmentation across its tools.

A Push Toward a Unified AI Experience

The planned super app will merge ChatGPT, Atlas, and Codex into one desktop platform. Each of these tools currently serves different purposes, ranging from conversational AI to coding and AI-powered browsing.

OpenAI reportedly acknowledged that maintaining separate applications slowed development cycles and impacted overall product quality. By consolidating them, the company aims to streamline updates, improve performance, and deliver a more cohesive user experience.
