Opera One R3 Is Here With Color Coded Tab Islands and a Smarter Built In AI
Opera has just announced Opera One R3, continuing its tradition of annual browser reinventions. This release marks the third major iteration of Opera One and further refines the modular design of Opera One.
Color Coded Tab Islands and Context Aware Browsing Take Center Stage
The biggest change in Opera One R3 is related to Tab Islands. Users can now group tabs by context, then assign colors and custom names to each group, making them easier to differentiate. This approach makes it easier to manage work, research, and entertainment without clutter.

Opera also improved its built-in AI system. The re-engineered AI works within a single tab or across an entire Tab Island, keeping tasks separate and preventing context mixing. The new AI engine is based on Opera Neon, and it delivers responses around 20 percent faster. Users who aren’t too keen on using this feature can easily disable it if they wish.
Split Screen, Sidebar Upgrades, and Dynamic Themes Round Out the Update
Opera One R3 makes switching between the stable release and the beta channel much simpler. Users can now join the beta program directly from the browser without downloading a separate build.

As for the beta version, it introduces an improved split-screen feature that expands from two tabs to up to four, with new horizontal and grid layouts designed for large displays.
The sidebar has also been improved, and it now has Gmail and Google Calendar for quick access.

On the visual side, Opera One R3 introduces three new dynamic themes called Radiance, Orbit, and Sonic. Radiance focuses on dark mode, Orbit targets light mode, and both feature a spherical R3 design style.
The Sonic theme, created in collaboration with Spotify, dynamically reacts to music played through Opera’s built-in music player.
Overall, Opera One R3 delivers a cleaner browsing experience with stronger tab management and a smarter AI engine, making it one of Opera’s most refined updates so far.
Other browser developers have been busy as well, and Microsoft has addressed security concerns with the latest Edge update.
Mozilla has also released a new version of its browser, Firefox 147, that improves video playback and PiP features.
