Microsoft has rolled out a new update to the Outlook Mail and Calendar app for Windows 10 today, bringing the features on-par with the app available for Windows Insiders. In this update, you can now mark your calendars with holidays, jump to any day of the year with Year view, and other improvements to both apps (first spotted by our friends at WindowsCentral).
Other improvements to the apps include agenda view showing the weather in addition to week view, the ability to group notifications in the Action center by account, and the ability to see the original email automatically during a reply without having to press to see more content. Email rendering as also received an improvement, fixing some issues with the way emails are displayed in the app.
For those that did not know, both apps have a “What’s New” category in the settings, revealing the following change log of the top new features added to both apps:
- Link multiple inboxes together to view all of your email in one unified inbox.
- Select and interact with many messages at once by using Select All and Shift+Select.
- Right-click to empty deleted items and junk email folders.
- Set a swipe to move to a custom folder
- Search within a message directly in the reading pane
- View email more easily with improved image scaling.
- View your calendar in month view on mobile devices.
- Mark your calendar with holidays
- View an entire year at a glance with Year view
- See organization’s contact information for email senders and recipients (for Exchange accounts only).
Keep in mind that Microsoft rolls out new features to these apps if you are a participant of the Windows Insider program. After a few weeks, these updates make it to the apps for those who are not in the Insider program. Many of these changes listed above have already been noticed by many of you, but for those who are not in the Insider program, grab the latest version of the Mail and Calendar apps below and experience what changes Microsoft has made over the past several months.
