Blizzard continues expanding Overwatch’s crossover events, and the latest collaboration brings characters from the popular RPG NieR: Automata into the hero shooter.

According to a report from Polygon, Overwatch is receiving a new crossover with NieR: Automata that introduces several Project YoRHa-themed skins and themed content inspired by the action RPG series.

New NieR: Automata skins arrive in Overwatch

The collaboration adds five Legendary skins based on major characters from NieR: Automata. Several Overwatch heroes will receive redesigned appearances inspired by the YoRHa androids.

The confirmed skins include Kiriko as 2B, Vendetta as A2, Wuyang as 9S, Lifeweaver as Adam, and Mercy as Commander White.

These skins replicate the recognizable designs from NieR: Automata while adapting them to Overwatch’s hero roster.

Pods and themed content included

The crossover also introduces the Pod companions from NieR: Automata.

Pod 042 will accompany Kiriko’s 2B skin, while Pod 153 will appear alongside Wuyang’s 9S skin. These Pods will appear as cosmetic elements tied to the collaboration skins.

Alongside the skins, Blizzard is adding a themed lobby inspired by the world of NieR: Automata.

The lobby environment was co-designed by NieR artists Kimihiko Fujisaka and Koda Kazuma to reflect the visual style of the original game.

Special event hub and rewards

The update will also include a dedicated collaboration event hub where players can participate in themed challenges.

By completing event tasks, players will be able to unlock several cosmetic rewards, including name cards, a new player title, and a themed weapon charm.

The collaboration continues Blizzard’s strategy of introducing major crossovers to keep the game’s seasonal content fresh for players.

In other gaming news, rumors about a Fallout 3 remaster have resurfaced online, while Resident Evil Requiem is expected to receive additional story content and new features in a future update.

That’s not all, as EA has reportedly begun layoffs across the Battlefield studio, just months after the successful launch of Battlefield 6.
