PlayStation 6 Handheld Reportedly Outperforms Xbox Series S
Gamers are eagerly waiting for PlayStation 6, and while the information is scarce, we know that the upcoming console won’t lag behind Project Helix in terms of performance.
PS6 Handheld Could Outperform Xbox Series X, Leaks Claim
While the gaming community is focused on the next-gen home console, it seems that Sony is also working on a PS6 handheld, codenamed Project Canis.
The rumored specifications include:
- 4 x Zen 6c Cores
- 2 x Zen 6 LP Cores
- 16 x RDNA 5 CUs
- 192-bit LPDDR5X (24GB)
- 135mm² TSMC 3nm
This information comes from a known leaker, KeplerL2, claiming that the PS6 handheld can outperform the Xbox Series S in both rasterization and ray tracing.
The report states that the handheld will use PSSR3 and outperform Nintendo Switch 2 and its DLSS implementation. It’s speculated that PSSR3 will outperform DLSS 4.5.
As for PSSR, it was recently added to PlayStation 5 Pro, improving performance and visual clarity. If you’re not familiar with the feature, PSSR uses similar tech to AMD FSR, and it can deliver a performance boost.
Keep in mind that this is rumored information, and Sony hasn’t released any official information. As for PS6, it is speculated that the new console could cost $699.
