PS5 Pro Firmware Update Adds PSSR Upscaling Support for Select Games
Sony has officially expanded its latest PS5 Pro update, while confirming that the upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) feature is now rolling out to more PS5 titles. The update, as detailed in yesterday’s PlayStation Blog, is part of a firmware release and brings improved visual performance across a growing list of supported games.
Upgraded PSSR expands to more PS5 Pro titles with better image clarity and stability
Sony confirms that the enhanced PSSR is now available for games like Silent Hill f, Monster Hunter Wilds, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Crimson Desert, with more titles expected to follow. The company further added that Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 will also receive a patch in the coming weeks to support the new PSSR.
As far as details about PSSR, Sony notes that the feature improves image stability, sharpens fine details, and delivers more consistent performance during gameplay. The updated PSSR continues to use an AI-powered library that analyzes each frame pixel by pixel. With the latest improvements, Sony says image reconstruction is more precise, while motion handling feels smoother in fast-paced scenes.
Interestingly, the feature is not limited to new titles. Sony has confirmed that upgraded PSSR can also be enabled for existing supported games through an optional system setting on the PS5 Pro.
Here are the titles that support the PSSR feature:
- Silent Hill 2
- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Silent Hill f
- Control
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Nioh 3
- Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
- Alan Wake 2
- Rise of the Ronin
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Sony further confirmed that several development partners have already started integrating the updated PSSR into their games and are reportedly seeing a boost in visual output.
