PlayStation’s Next State of Play Officially Set for June 2, Runtime to Exceed an Hour

After months of silence around Sony’s biggest upcoming exclusives, the company has officially confirmed a new State of Play showcase for June 2. At the showcase, players will finally get yet another proper look at Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games.

The upcoming showcase is scheduled to run for more than 60 minutes, which suggests Sony is preparing a fairly packed showcase ahead of the summer gaming season.

Marvel’s Wolverine will headline Sony’s next big showcase

According to Sony, the event will open with fresh footage from Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac reportedly plans to show more of Logan’s combat alongside additional gameplay details tied to the upcoming third-person action-adventure title. Sony also reconfirmed the game’s September 15 PS5 release date.

Beyond Wolverine, the June 2 State of Play will also include new announcements, gameplay reveals, and updates from studios around the world. As of now, Sony has not detailed the full lineup. The broadcast goes live June 2 at 2PM PT / 5PM ET via YouTube and Twitch, while Japanese subtitles will also be available. You can also stream it from the live stream link embedded below:

Interestingly, this showcase announcement arrives shortly after reports suggested Sony may start keeping more of its big single-player titles exclusive to PlayStation platforms for longer periods. That makes Marvel’s Wolverine even more important for the company moving forward, especially as competition around console ecosystems keeps intensifying. Not to forget, the company also recently announced price hike for PS Plus subscriptions.
