One of the more highly-anticipated tech products of the past year, the Razer Zephyr, finally launched today but sold out within minutes. The overwhelming demand also caused the Razer’s online storefront to crash, leaving many unable to add the smart mask to their cart and finish their purchase.

“The demand for the Razer Zephyr has been overwhelming and our first wave is sold out within minutes,” a tweet from the official Razer Twitter account explained. “Stay tuned and appreciate your patience as we work hard to restock them as fast as we can. Sign up to be notified when the next batch arrives.”

Razer always planned to give Zephyr a limited debut launch before releasing more stock in the following months but it seems as if they were still caught by surprise.

The Razer Zephyr was first announced as a concept during CES 2021 where it was referred to as Project Hazel. The mask was rebranded as Razer Zephyr in August of this year while limited public testing began around the same time.

“Breathe in the future with the Razer Zephyr—an award-winning concept made reality,” reads the current product description for Razer Zephyr. “Stay safe with its replaceable N95 Grade filters for daily protection. Stay social with its transparent design for clear face visibility. Stay sustainable with its reusable nature for long-term use.”

Update: Razer has since removed any mention of N95 grade protection from both Zephyr and Zephyr Pro mask product descriptions.
