Russia Warns Rockstar Over GTA 6's Content, Threatens Outright Ban Across the Country

gta 6 leaks true

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is undoutedly the most anticipated games of this year. Rockstar has locked in November launch after delaying it. As you may know, the game hasn’t launched. But, that hasn’t stopped Rockstar Games from being on the firing line of a Russian official over game’s content.

Russian leader calls for GTA 6 ban in the country over male stripper content

While every fans are hoping to get their hands-on GTA 6, a senior Russian leader has publicly criticized the game’s content, calling it immoral and dangerous for young audiences. The comments have sparked fresh debate around censorship, regional versions, and whether GTA 6 could be blocked entirely in certain markets.

In an interview with NEWS.ru, Mikhail Ivanov, deputy chairman of the World Russian People’s Council, recently took aim at GTA 6 during an interview (via MP1st). Per Ivanov, Rockstar is deliberately pushing content that clashes with traditional moral and spiritual values. His strongest criticism focused on adult-themed scenes, including reported male strip club content.

Ivanov claimed such material could negatively influence younger players. He warned that the game risks becoming a tool of cultural corruption rather than entertainment. As a result, he urged authorities to ban GTA 6 from being sold in Russia unless Rockstar agrees to changes.

That very comment may cause trouble in the coming days over GTA 6’s Russia launch. The stance of Ivanov is clear, either Rockstar develops a special, censored version of GTA 6 for the Russian market, or the game should face an outright ban. Ivanov also suggested that other countries are already taking steps to block similar content, hinting the move as a wider cultural defense. That being said, no similar reports have come from any other country yet.

Rockstar has yet to comment

So far, Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive have not responded to the remarks.
Many still believe that GTA 6 has been scheduled to release slated for a November 19, 2026 release, though delays into 2027 are still rumored. In fact, its long development cycle has reportedly even been discussed in political circles outside Russia. Whether this pressure leads to regional censorship remains to be seen.

Would Rockstar ever ship a toned-down version? Or is a regional ban more likely? Whst do you thonk? Let us know in the comments below.
